Art Paw News/ December 2005

12/29/05
We survived the holiday madness and we are back at our desks today. We had a record breaking December this year and I'm proud to say that over one hundred pet lovers received Art Paw originals on Christmas morning. We will be adding these new dog and kitty cat portraits to the site over the next couple of months, so check back often.

Tis the season to pamper your pets and their humans! We are on track with deliveries for Christmas, and today is the very last day to order a custom portrait gift certificatesportrait and have it by December 24th. It is however not too late to give our very groovy DVD portfolio gift certificate package. This is just the coolest certificate your loved one will receive this year since it comes with a fun movie, magnet, art-postcard and more!

Nessie Collins died yesterday due to lymphoma and cancer of the liver. Thanks to modern veterinary medicine and a morphine patch she had a pretty decent last day. Our sweet girl is not as prominent on the site as her brother Atticus, however she was every bit as important in our lives. She was the alpha leader in our doggy pack and we will miss her so much. She shares the homepage today with Charlie, a wonderful lab mix that also died yesterday due to lymphoma. Our heart goes out to Charlie's humans, it is an odd coincidence that I would hear from them today.

The new shopping cart for ordering custom pet portraits is now live. Watercolor prints are only available now on request since 90% of our clients are preferring the stretched canvas. If you want to learn more about our stretched canvas prints click here, and scroll down to the bottom of the page to see Matt stretching Louie the italian greyhound.

Check out our new dvd slide show portfolio. This cool little promotional piece was started earlier this year by my assistant Matt. I have been working with him this month to finalize this groovy little movie so we can start including it with all gift certificate purchases this year. You can also purchase just the movie, and it comes with discount coupons for custom portraits.

I know you are all concerned and probably overwhelmed with emotions and concern for both the humans and the animals that have had their lives altered so drastically by Katrina. Below are just a few links to groups that are helping the animals:
Metroplex Animal Coalition
Best Friends
SPCA of Texas

7/09/05 Nouveau-Vintage Style launching
Always trying to stay ahead of the pack in originality, Art Paw will be launching a new pet portrait art style in mid July with a new on-line gallery show of their hot "Nouveau-Vintage" pets. You can see a few of these samples starting to emerge on the site already. The look combines Rebecca's painterly style with original background patterns designed by her and her staff of talented artists. The patterns and textures are all inspired by vintage engravings, and old architectural elements. Below are a few art proofs that have an example of this rich new look.

6/01/05 / Top Dogs Receive Art Paw Portraits!
Art Paw recently finished a big design project for the D3: All things Digital Executive Conference, put on by the Wall Street Journal. We were commissioned to create custom portraits on canvas of each of the conference speakers. Among the many eminent speakers on the roster were Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. To see a few of these pieces hanging at the conference click here . This was a really fun project and we hope all of the speakers enjoy their artwork. Thanks to both Sandy & Tammie for their help on this one.

5/2/05 / Rebecca on TV!
Rebecca made her television debut tonight plugging Art Paw on Q TV's On Q-Live. Rebecca created a portrait of Jack E. Jett's fine looking dog Bruiser. (Jack is one of the gracious hosts of On Q-Live) Rebecca extends a heartfelt thanks to Jack, Cassian and the talented crew of On Q-Live! Thanks for having Art Paw. We really enjoyed it!

Atticus Collins died on Monday March 28th. Atticus was the inspiration for Art Paw and has served as our Mascot and C.A.O. (chief animal officer) for the past 7 years. Atticus brought many wonderful people into our lives and his Scottie web following has always been a special source of joy for both of us. Words can not describe how deeply he will be missed.

Check back soon as we plan to update our about us section with happy stories and a lengthy bio of our sweet boy, along with recent photos. Currently we are back at work and catching up on orders.

Art Paw recently received a big contract with the pet food company Cesar® for 300 commissioned 11 x 14 pet portraits on stretched canvas. This exciting and large commission was part of a promotional campaign sponsored by Safeway and Cesar® brand pet food. We are very thrilled to be taking care of Cesar's rather discriminating and "sophisticated" canine clients. Being terrier fans we have always loved this company and their adorable little Westie mascot. If you recently received a winning gift certificate in the mail just click here to redeem.
